RUSTA’s Remote Pilot Certificate Advanced (RPCA) training course is a bespoke course specifically designed for the Police, Fire and Emergency Services.

Combining both theory and practical (hands-on) training for operations of Small Unmanned Air Systems (SUAS), the RPCA provides candidates with a tactical advantage which may assist with:

  • Emergency Response
  • Crime Management and Investigation
  • Search and Rescue Operations
  • Missing Persons
  • Road Traffic Accident Investigation
  • Demonstrations/Crowd Control
  • Property Search and Raids
  • Fire Fighting
  • Fire Damage Assessment
  • Aerial Surveillance
  • Infra-red Imagery

Running over six days, candidates become competent SUAS operators by attending three days of classroom theory-based training led by a highly qualified instructor, with the additional three days focused solely on practical remote pilot training and assessment.

Candidates can expect to carry out mission specific tasks that may include performing missing persons (MISPERS) or public order aerial operations, with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).

In addition to the theory and practical elements of the RPCA course, candidates also receive access to Computer Based Training prior to attending the course, which provides a good foundation of knowledge and consolidates learning.

The RPCA course is compliant with the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) standard and all examination procedures are conducted to the EASA 147 (CAA Aircraft Engineer) standards.

Developed with subject matter experts to remain in line with Emergency Services’ requirements, candidates can expect to not only obtain their Permission For Commercial Operation (PFCO) from the CAA, but gain the confidence to carry out all SUAS tasks safely and legally.
